2008-2009 Schedule Next fall Highland Junior High School will be on a six-period trimester schedule. The middle/junior high schools are moving toward a common term schedule in an effort to create uniformity with our delivery of curriculum.  Some of our departments have been active in a middle/junior high Professional Learning Community and the focus has been identifying essential standards and benchmarks.  A common term schedule will assist in this development and planning.   Regarding the six-period day, we have found it necessary to see our students daily.  We will also gain several minutes a week in the areas of need for many of our students, which include math and English.  We will still have several electives for students to choose from, some being year-long and others a trimester (12 weeks) in length.  Core classes (math, science, English and social studies) will continue to be a year in length.  Also we will continue following the valuable team structure. We will have more information available as we get closer to registering students for the 08-09 school year.
