Course: Studio Art- Teacher: Ms. Wakefield 293-8590 ext. 1330
Specific Objectives, Students Experiences:

Students learn by creating many art projects which may include drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking and crafts. We will focus on the art of other cultures for inspiration for many of our projects. Several projects will include a writing component so the students may express themselves both verbally and visually. Activities are primarily hands on, supplemented with slides, demonstrations and reading. Each student will create a portfolio of artwork to show what they have accomplished and how they have improved throughout the semester.

Books and Materials:
Students must bring a pencil, eraser and their planner to class every day. Material for all art projects will be provided though it would be beneficial for the students to have their own colored pencils and markers. Students will be expected to work everyday regardless of the mess, if this is a problem I recommend that they bring a smock.

Expectations, Homework Frequency, Grading Policy:
All classroom behavior will be based on the principle respect for oneself, others, the classroom and supplies. All students are expected to do their best to follow directions and complete all assignments. THE STUDENT IS RESPONSIBLE TO KEEP TRACK OF AND MAKE UP ANY WORK MISSED BECAUSE OF ABSENCE. Students who have not completed the assignments will be given one week to complete them on their own, after that work will not be accepted. Extensions will be granted if appropriate. DUE DATES WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN CLASS. Grades will be based as follows: 50% on class participation & effort and 50% on quality of work as well as completion of assignments.
