Principal's Notes
Dear Highland Park Junior High Families,

It is hard to believe we are halfway through this school year.  By now our seventh graders are acclimated and our eighth graders are looking ahead to going to high school.  These two years of junior high are an important step in between elementary and high school. We trust we are establishing a solid academic foundation, building organizational and problem solving skills, and establishing a solid academic foundation as well as encouraging a healthy work ethic.

We just presented our first ever “Taste of Highland” on Friday, January 11. We hosted Highland Elementary, Randolph Heights, and L’Etoile du Nord sixth graders for our presentation of awesome student work and performances.  The student work highlighted our service learning projects and students performed dances and poetry representing many cultures.  The staff and students did an amazing job organizing all the events.  We hope to host more events in the future that bring our communities closer together.  In this same effort of bringing our communities closer together, I, along with our International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program director Linda Jones, have visited several of our elementary schools.

We also had our band and choir concert on Thursday, January 10.  Both the band and choir serenaded a big crowd of enthusiastic families.  These events are great opportunities to highlight all of our student talent.  The students look forward to showing off all their hard work to their families and friends.  Thanks to families for all your support.

Please continue to check in with your child’s teachers.  Check the Parent Portal frequently and call us if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s progress.
